Barcelona’s bus stations contribute to the coach traffic management model by ensuring acceptable service levels for operator companies and coach users.
Located in the building of the former railway station, dating back to 1861, the Barcelona Nord Bus Station is now the main arrivals and departures terminal for buses travelling through the city of Barcelona. Buses leaving for the majority of Catalonia’s counties, the rest of Spain and primary European and North African cities depart from this station.
This requires a whole series of services to be provided to companies and travellers alike, from the sale of tickets to the cleaning of the buses and coaches, including coordination with other means of urban transport, parking facilities for private vehicles and a range of shops and dining options for users who start or end their journey in our city.

A commitment to quality
In April 2002, the station achieved the ISO 9001:2000 certification for its quality management system, having complied with all the quality requirements.
More recently, in 2003, it was awarded the Prize for the Best Bus Station in Spain by the ADT, the Spanish Association for the Development of Transport.
Located on Avinguda Meridiana, the Bus Station has historically been the central hub of transport connections between the city of Barcelona, its metropolitan area and neighbouring counties.
At present, with a view to contributing to improved resident mobility in Barcelona and Catalonia as a whole, work is being carried out to bring the station's services and facilities into line with B:SM's quality, efficiency and sustainability standards.
